dresden plate community quilts header

Over the years NOTYQ has developed a tradition of making Community Quilts. Recipients of these quilts include groups such as;
  • Women's Refuges
  • Family Crisis Centres
  • Special Needs Groups (e.g. Kosovo Refugees)
  • In the weekly meetings for one month per year, NOTYQ members work in 'ad hoc' teams on the various stages of quilt making. These workshops have their own atmosphere of creativity, teamwork and sense of providing a worthwhile service to the community
    Individual members who like to contribute but cannot attend the Thursday workshops work on these quilts in their own time

    These are given to the parents whose babies die during or soon after birth. Parents may keep these quilts as a momento of the special and brief time they spent with their child

    At the annual retreat at Maldon, members were given some fabric to make into blocks that will be made into quilts and donated to Nursing Homes in the Maldon area
