2001 was a year of celebration for Australia - 100 years of Federation NOTYQ participated in this celebration by applying for and receiving federal government funding for four specific projects. The Oral History Project An extensive questionnaire was developed and circulated throughout our 140 members as well as a local group of spinners and weavers. These have now been collated and are available for members to borrow from our library. This is a valuable historical resource and makes for fascinating reading. The Education Project NOTYQ members spent time sharing their knowledge and skills in many local schools, neighborhood houses and an aged care facility. See Education Project PhotosNational Quilt Block Competition NOTYQ organised a National Quilt Block competition with 'Celebrating 100 years of Federation' as the theme for the show. The blocks were displayed at the 2001 exhibition and the winning block pattern (designed by Susan Brewin of Diamond Creek) was published and is available for purchase. New Technology Developing the website for our Celebration of Federation, was another challenge for the group, which was successfully achieved. We have had assistance to expand, update and maintain the site, and some of our members are building skills in this area.
